Mallorca and Family Living

Finally I am settled down in Mallorca. Since I didn´t bring my potters wheel I will look for a workshop I can share but now I will also focus on new illustrations and pattern. It is lovely down here and I will most probably get a lot of new inspiration. I heard that I´m out in Family Living (nr6) right now but I haven´t seen or read it myself but I got this picture sent to me. :)
My things where also out in Leva och Bo, a redesign tableset. It`s a mix of old cups and plates that I unit through my illustrations
Also my new illustrations for Blingo are out. Unfortunately they have changed my introduced colors and I do not totally agree with this mix :(

My Redesign tableware are growing and getting more and more mixed. But the illustrations are still the same and the concept is called "födelsedag"
Combine your own set of tableware. Every piece has a glossy surface and some pieces has gold or silver. They are all decorated with hand drawn screen printed ceramic decals that I call "födelsedag" (birthday) and the font can sometimes vary between the china design. Every piece is 40USD
This week "Leva & Bo" were in my studio and took some great pictures of this for the magazine!

Today was my big day. The grand opening of my Workshop and gallery here in Stockholm at Överjärva Gård.
There was a lot of people visiting and shopping christmas gifts. I have four more artist selling there stuff this weekend.
Tomorrow is the second of advent and I invite everybody to come and celebrate for a glöggparty at 3pm.

My favourite spots in Barcelona

Since Barcelona is a cultural place with great art everywhere I will concentrate on the food instead!
Head for breakfast at teteria teahouse Caj Chai, a nice laid back place with great chai coffee or tea. Bring your book and just relax. Then maybe lunch at La Cuina dén Carriga, nice little small shop selling Karin Eriksson ceramic from Sweden. I never tried the food there but the atmosphere felt nice so I will definitely try it out next time. Then after all shopping you might have a break at La Pineda. Wonderful old men operating a small xarcuteria where they serve you delicious cheese, salami, jamón, wine and liqueur. A great place to gather some energy for moving on to Tintoreria Dontell.
This is a restaurant with a fun concept. You head for the dry cleaner, you will get a secret code there that you will press, behind all the hanging clothes. A wall will open up and you are about to enter the secret restaurant "Don´t tell". A James Bond mystic feeling with great food and atmosphere!

798 is a rising, avant-garde trendy space in Beijing that hosts high-level cultural artistic activities since 2002. It is located in Dashanzi Art District and is really worth seeing. You can easily spend a whole day just cruising around visiting galleries and art centers. This area was once a factory producing electronics and are today a "Soho-esque" area of international character.

If you ever get to Seoul in Korea you should go to the district called Insadong, an atmosphere of the past.
The narrow alleys are packed with art galleries and I found a very inspiring ceramic shop today called TONG-IN

I wasn´t allowed to take any pictures but found some of the objects

Inspiration and new meetings

Blingo is the company I will make illustrations for. I will be part of one of their coming concepts for the fall.
While spending my time in the south part of Sweden I got some new inspiration from the exhibition "Bilder! Bilder! Bilder!" at Dunkerskulturhus and took a trip over to Denmark again:) I found really great portraits by Maria Virginia Montiel

I´m spending most of my time now preparing scetches for the fall collection of a childrens clothing company. I´m heading south tomorrow to show them some illustrations. Here is a different way of using a lightbox...really amazing!

Print out your photo or illustration from the computer on OH-paper in grey scale and best quality!

Take a Polymer sheet and put your OH-paper on top. Then illuminate for 12 min (the time is changing depending on what kind of lightsourse you are using, but it has to be UV-light)

Illuminate another 12 min with a grained sheet (screen paper?...around 80)

Put in water (20-25C) for 1 minute!

Wipe the polymer with a soft sponge for another minute

Rince it off!

Wipe it of and then either put it in a drying cabinet or use your blow dryer until it is really dry

Cut out your picture

Polish the edges

Illuminate again for another 12 minutes

Now its time to prepare the colour

You have to work the paint until it gets really smooth and nice

If its too thick add some vaseline and some rapeseed oil

Now its time for the printing!!

This weekend I have been to Grafikens hus in Mariefred. A photopolymer workshop in graphic printing technique.
I tried to print some of my illustrations and some photos. I will tomorrow show the whole process of the printing technique!

I am in Denmark right now and want to share some pictures.
In Luisiana I visited photographer Jakob Holdts exhibition, a large-scale presentation of the photographer’s many pictures from the 1970s until today. The exhibition showed a far-reaching and moving documentary that made me really sad and uncomfortable in the way I take my secure life for granted. It is really worth seeing!

A Perfect Christmas Gift

I got a wonderful christmas gift from Karin Eriksson yesterday who I have been working for since March. Karin and Camilla Engman are doing some projects together and this one is just my fovourite. Mr Black on the mug really inspired me when I was creating Mr Magic for the exhibition down in Croatia. The book is about Camilla and it is Uppercase who has made the suitcase serie. I am so happy for the christmas gift....thank you Karin!

Yesterday I went to Gustavsbergs artgallery. On the first floor they have a shop with swedish arts and crafts and on the second floor is the showroom with inspiring things in ceramic and glas but also really good litterature. I bought my own christmas gift, "Fragiles", an eclectic collection of contemporary work in porcelain, glass and ceramics. The book documents over one thousand striking artistic projects, experimental applications, and innovative industrial products made from these materials by both established and emerging design talents and artists. A very nice christmas gift for those who have any design or handicraft interest!
I also bought this ice flower made of Susanne Allberg, who has her workshop in Gustavsbergs old factory, dram glass made of Åsa Lindberg and a lamp, another piece of art, made by Hisako Mizuno. Down below are some other nice things I saw....maybe something you like as a Christmas gift!

" I walked around on an Island, an Island called Korcula. The buildings were majestic. The wine sparkled in carafes and singing flowed in the alleys. That summer night the crickets played in the evening heat for all the couples who had fallen in love. The water was luminous in a way that led my thoughts to sea-fire. There was a bright turquoise glow that made the surroundings look as if on stage. Suddenly I heard the sea’s song and saw the fish dancing - fish I had never seen before, with a passion to preserve the beauty that once thrived when unknown coral shone in the depths. The colors made me thirsty and alert, excited for adventure. Things that happen in a fairytale, can happen to you....”
